| Sikora AG, Germany, a world-wide operating company providing the wire and cable industry with diameter measuring, controlling and testing equipment, has recently announced awarded a contract from the Salvadorian company Condusal SA de CV, a manufacturer of copper building wires and cables ranging from bare conductors to THHN, NM-B, SPT, SAE, TSJ, TF, TFF, TFN, TFFN, TBW, drop wire, as well as aluminium bare wires and cables, AAC, ACSR and WP for transmission and distribution.
Sikora will provide Condusal with its recently developed ECOCONTROL 2000 process control system, together with four LASER Series 2000 diameter gauges and spark tester. This system will allow Condusal to monitor and control diameters on input wire, first and second extrusion layers and cold diameter. This advanced system allows for the automatic compensation due to shrinkage variations seen between the hot and cold diameters.
The ECOCONTROL 2000 is a touch-screen driven system providing an environment that assures ease-of-use for the operator. The touch-screen driven device simplifies the operator interface while offering the state-of-the-art approach to FFT/SRL examinations, tandem extrusion control, eccentricity graphical analysis and more. ECOCONTROL 2000 allows operators to visualise the most important measuring values together with a trend display, statistical data and FFT-analysis. Included in the unit is a diameter and wall-thickness control. In addition to its enhanced graphical interface, the unit features a library (product table) in which all relevant data - sorted according to the cable size - is stored and available on request. Three access levels are also available at the display and control unit, in order to ensure that only authorised persons get access to the system. The LASER 2000 series of diameter measuring devices were selected due to the LASER diffraction technique of measurement that eliminates moving parts and expensive lenses while reducing maintenance requirements.
