| Cortinovis SpA, Italy, has recently reported that last year exceeded all expections, making it the most successful so far in the company�s 100 year history. Cortinovis SpA Group reported that the year resulted in income in excess of twenty-five million Euros. Historically, Cortinovis Spa has concentrated engineering efforts on developing new methods of production and improving existing processes. The development of these innovative solutions has resulted in an increase in Cortinovis customers level of productivity and competitiveness. Dott. Ing. Sergio Cortinovis, chief executive officer, commented: �The success of 2002 can be attributed to many new machines introduced by Cortinovis targeted at improving traditional cable production methods. The primary example of this success is the telephone group twinner with the innovative automatic loading system (25 installations in the last two years). This machine has increased the productivity of the group twinning process by reducing downtime due to set-up. This high-level of productivity increase has become the new standard for the telephone manufacturing business�.
This engineering effort has also resulted in the development and introduction of several other innovative manufacturing processes to the wire and cable market such as the Conotorsion strander for armouring large diameter cables and assembling multi-layer insulated cords, and the zero backtwist tubular skip for the production of OPGW, fibre optic constructions and armoured telecommunication cables. �We will continue to dedicate our engineering efforts in this direction and we are confident that the coming years will build upon these recent sucesses.
