| Wire & Cable Industry Suppliers Association (WCISA), the North American organisation of ninety-two member companies, has recently entered into a co-operative partnership agreement with the IWMA International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA) who has over 300 members in nearly 60 countries. WCISA thereby joins with ACIMAF, the Italian Association of wire and cable machinery constructors whose membership numbers more than 70 corporations, and who has recently concluded a similar partnership agreement with the IWMA (refer to EuroWire N�29).
The purpose of the partnership is to unify and co-ordinate previously separated efforts related to international events that serve this industry sector, including technical meetings, presentations and exhibitions. These agreements are especially significant in view of the world-wide changes and developments which have taken place during recent years in the wire and cable industry. The globalisation of manufacturing and distribution in this sector has resulted in the need to co-ordinate support and resources within the industry as far as they relate to the timing, frequency and location of technical meetings, presentations and industry trade shows on the international stage. The combination of the agreements between WCISA, ACIMAF and the IWMA collectively represent the largest group of participating companies at such events and will inevitably improve the co-ordination of support that will benefit not only their respective members but also the industries that are served by these organisations.
Commenting on the recent partnership agreement, Mr Robert J Fulop - WCISA president, and Mr Michael McNulty - executive director of WCISA, jointly declared: �The partnership between our associations, WCISA and the IWMA, will result in a pooling and co-ordination of our combined efforts to benefit the industry as a whole and represents a step in a positive direction, filling a long standing need of our memberships regarding industry events�. Mr Tony Johnson, chairman of the IWMA, stated that �This additional and very important member of the IWMA partnership agreement, adds credence to the common goal of our respective members and the industry at large, which is to collaborate and unify our resources towards better and more regulated industry presentations and events. The combination of the IWMA, WCISA and ACIMAF represents a formidable group of manufacturers and suppliers within our industry. We shall continue to seek additional members to this alliance, from those organisations which have the common goal to enhance the quality and measured regularity of wire and cable industry meetings�.
