| Pirelli Energy Cables & Systems, Italy, has recently announced that its subsidiary Comergy Ltd, Singapore, has been chosen by the Singaporean power utility SP PowerAssets Ltd, a subsidiary of Singapore Power, to supply and install 400kV PPL oil-filled power cables, auxiliary cables and accessories. Once completed, the new installation will reinforce the power transmission network within the country. The contract, which is worth some �50 million, is the most important awarded in Asia in 2004 and confirms Pirelli world-wide leadership in power transmission cable systems.

Under the terms of the contract, Comergy will supply and install the 400kV cables across the central part of the city-state. Two Pirelli plants, one in Eastleigh and the other in Bishopstoke, both located in the UK, will manufacture the power cables and cable power accessories according to the customer's requirements.
