| To enhance its presence as a global full-service vendor of equipment and technology to the optical fibre and cable industry, Nextrom Holding SA, Switzerland, the world�s premier supplier of manufacturing solutions and services to the fibre optic industry and Bular LLC, USA, have recently announced Nextrom�s acquisition of Bular�s technology and assets related to soot fabrication of optical fibre preforms. Nextrom will incorporate Bular�s technology into Nextrom�s new line of preform manufacturing equipment using soot technology.
With completion of the transaction, Bular has ceased its operation in the field and Nextrom will begin operating Bular�s fully equipped technology centre in the USA, to develop and demonstrate equipment and technology, including preforms for low water-peak single-mode fibre and other related products. Bular�s existing staff will continue as Nextrom�s employees. Dr. Arnab Sarkar, president of Bular LLC has joined Nextrom as the vice-president of soot products based in USA and will be responsible for the product line for Nextrom.
