| Interoute is a pan-European telecommunications company that owns and operates one of the largest and most advanced fibre optic networks in Europe. Recently, the company announced the acquisition of Central European network operator Central European Communications Holdings BV (CECOM) and its operating subsidiaries in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Poland and Romania from Zephyr Communications Inc., USA.
The deal now expands Interoute�s pan-European network by more than 2,900km of fibre optic network across western and central Europe. CECOM provides points-of-presence in Frankfurt, Leipzig, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Pilsen, Brno, Ostrava, Bratislava, Budapest, Oradea, Bucharest, Bielsko Biala and Warsaw. Called i-21, the network originally connected 45 cities in 9 countries across over 35,000km of cables and 450 route kilometres.
