FTTU network deployed in Louisiana
Alcatel, France, has recently signed a multi-million dollar contract with EATEL, USA, a privately owned company providing communication services to businesses and residents, for the deployment and completion of a complete Fibre-to-the-User (FTTU) network designed to deliver a full range of voice and data communications services in Louisiana, USA. EATEL is committed to FTTU and will deploy this network for all new construction developments. The company also plans to upgrade the existing copper connections in its network to fibre over time.

Alcatel will provide EATEL with its Alcatel 7340 platform, specifically built for FTTU and delivering a scalable solution to support mass deployment of rich media services. The Alcatel 7340 platform enables established and emerging service providers to cost-effectively deliver high-revenue, next generation broadband services today over a single optical fiber. This is Alcatels second FTTU deployment in Louisiana and first with an incumbent operator in the state, reflecting continued growth of FTTU networks throughout the country. The French company has multiple FTTU deployments in North America and has been involved in several FTTU field trials with operators in the Asia Pacific region.
