Niehoff announces successful show
Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, recently reported a successful exhibition at wire Dsseldorf 204 where the company received many more orders than expected. Some years ago, Niehoff began to considerably enlarge its portfolio of products and services, this decision met with unanimous approval among the experts and proved to be right by a large number of orders and enquiries. The theme of the Niehoff presentation was Economical production of modern data cables. Beside other products, the company presented two cable stranding lines: one with a DSI 631 type double-twist stranding machine, the other with the new DSI 1001 type double-twist stranding machine. In addition, the company displayed a BMV 16 high-speed braiding machine, together with a MKN 101 super fine wire drawing machine. Further machines were on display on Niehoffs partners stands: Hacoba showed a BMV 24 type high-speed braiding machine and NBM Niehoff Bhler GmbH, an RI 250 type induction annealer. All these machines had been sold before or during the trade fair. The DSI double-twist stranding machines are designed for stranding insulated conductors into twisted pairs and groups of four, as well as for stranding four pairs to make LAN cables. With these machines and complementary equipment, stranding lines can be combined for the reliable production of data cables, special cables, bus cables and LAN cables of all categories, even those which are not specified yet, with the required precision. The new Niehoff systems enable the main stranding of the mentioned cables with taping in a double-twist machine in one production step, even at high-production speeds. Concerning foamed products, there is no risk of deformation. Specifically developed drive, guide and control units enable this procedure, which in the past was very difficult to realise. Niehoff also developed two backtwist devices for cable stranding: one is foreseen for a discontinuous backtwist of 0 up to 40% maximum, the other device enables a backtwist of 0 up to 100%. Depending on which operation parameters form the basis of the comparative calculations, the use of DSI machines for stranding of data cables can result in cost savings of even up to 50%.
