| At wire Dsseldorf 2004, Maillefer S.A, Switzerland, a world leading manufacturer of extrusion and winding solutions to the wire, cable and pipe industries, presented its latest extrusion innovations for PE-crosslinking and flame-retardant products. The company has recently announced that during the first day of exhibition an order was signed with a Chinese company for Extrucell equipment while another deal was closed for the delivery of two telecom lines in Russia. By the end of the exhibition, Maillefer registered a total of 6 new line orders plus an option on an additional 4 lines. The largest order was for a CV-line designed for energy cables. We cannot say for sure whether we greeted more people than 2002, but we definitely see a positive swing in the business environment. Our visitors arrived with good news to share and projects to discuss, commented Mr Manuel Felder, vice-president sales & marketing.
The exhibited new technologies hit their target. The specialists for the new IR-PexA infrared curing method were busy with customers interested in eliminating the post process step of hot baths or saunas. Meanwhile, the timely release of a LAN extrusion line for pair separator (cross-web filler or spline) was perfect. Customers in Europe expressed their readiness to move-up to an inexpensive UTP Cat. 6 package using the pair separator. More innovations were on display with crosslinking methods for energy cable, compact multi-layer crossheads for telecom, HFFR extrusion, and the maintenance management system that helps customers tap into their equipments hidden potential.
