Under the contract, Alcatel Shanghai Bell will help install a transmission network along the subway in Tongzhou, the eastern suburb of Beijing, with its advanced ATM multi-service transmission system. Upon the completion by the end of this year, the customer is enabled to handle efficient and reliable communication services among different stops along the subway route, including carrier-grade voice, data and video services. Mr Liu Hongtao, chairman of BSJD commented: �As one of the key subway lines for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, smooth telecommunications along the line is important to the success of the event. To date, the subway telecommunications solutions of Alcatel Shanghai Bell have been successfully deployed in other subway systems including the Shanghai Mingzhu Rail Line, Shanghai Subway No.2 Line, Xinmin Light Rail line and Changchun Light Rail Line.
