As one of the world�s leading suppliers of telecommunication cables, Pirelli is now positioned as the number one supplier of telecom cables in Australia due to an extension of its sourcing agreement with Telstra, the Australian telecom provider. Scapa�s water swellable tapes are also used by Pirelli Telecom USA, positioning Scapa as one of the world�s leading suppliers of water swellable cable-wrapping tapes.
Scapa�s Megotape� water swellable tapes form a water-blocking barrier within the cable, preventing the ingress of water through the cable due to a superior water-swellable powder commonly referred to as SAP (super absorbent polymer). When water enters a cable, this SAP instantly forms a water-blocking gel which practically stops the water where it started, avoiding more costly damage to the cable. Megotape� water swellable tapes demonstrate an excellent level of water absorbency, with some swelling up to 50 times their size within just one minute upon contact with water.
