Double packaging line with single pallet unit from PS
Even though the supply lines are making different products, PS of Italy has designed and installed a double packaging line provided with just one automatic pallet unit.
The double plant consists of an automatic coiling line – PS 470/16 – and an automatic spooling line – PS 400/14/B. The coils and spools are conveyed automatically to an axis pallet unit (also fully automatic. By using special pliers, this automatic pallet alternately takes each type of product and then places them on the pallets without needing to be adjusted.
After the two pallets are loaded with coils and spools they move onto motorised rollers as far as an automatic pallet wrapper.
Within the plant PS has incorporated an incremental cable marking device, from 0 up to 100, with an ink-jet printer. The cut on the cut on the 100m sign. PS says it is “the only company able to arrange the marking and cutting operations without reducing the line production”.
The PS 470/16 has a 2400mm pay-off with a minimum diameter reel of 1200mm and a maximum diameter reel of 2400mm. The maximum weight is 9 tonnes. It can handle coil sizes with inner diameters of 150, 200 or 250mm and a maximum outer diameter of 470mm. The minimum height is 75mm and the maximum 300mm. The maximum weight is 60 kilos.
The PS 400/14/B also has a 2400mm pay-off with a minimum diameter reel of 1200mm and a maximum of 2400mm. The maximum weight is also 9 tonnes. It can handle spool sizes with a minimum flange diameter of 1200mm and a maxi-mum of 2400mm. The spool drum diameter should be 70mm with a minimum height of 100mm and a maximum of 400mm. The maximum weight is 50 kilos.
The line supervision is arranged by a PC. This PC can be connected to the company web by using the Ethernet system.
