Nextrom Helps to Meet the Demand for Low Price G652.D Fibre

For large core preforms, Nextrom offers the OFC 06 VAD Core Deposition machine. VAD fabricates 2000km core preforms with excellent fibre properties, much larger than from MCVD, and is the best process choice to make low-water G652.D fibre cores. VAD cores may be converted to large preforms by either soot clad deposition or tube sleeving.

For soot clad deposition of large preforms, Nextrom offers both the OFC 05 Horizontal and OFC 06 Vertical Soot Clad Deposition machines. Both give the lowest possible cladding cost by eliminating purchased sleeving tubes and depositing synthetic glass directly on the preform core. Combined with VAD cores, the OFC 06 produces preforms with 1000km or more fibre potential up to 2m long in a range of possible diameters. For MCVD cores, both can soot clad two cores in one step, producing lower cost finished preforms.

For tube sleeving the OFC 17 Stretching and Sleeving system is available to assemble cores and cylinders off-line into finished preforms of up to 2000km. The OFC 17 is also used for precision stretching of VAD core rods and finished soot clad preforms.

For drawing large preforms, Nextrom has a range of large furnace options to draw up to 150mm preforms coupled with preform feed improvements to upgrade existing draw towers. Also available are coating system upgrades for higher draw speeds, bulk coating delivery and a high-reliability dual spool take-up system to eliminate change over scrap, all needed for long preform run times.

Nextrom supplies a complete range of products and services to the Optical Fibre and Fibre Optic Cable industry, enforced by a strong global presence with an active sales and service network.
