High-performance high-temperature coating for optical fibres
Since the early nineties and the beginning of ultra-violet coating manufacturing, COIA GmbH, Germany, has been supplying its MPC coating type for manufacturing optical fibres. This material featured excellent results for the cable manufacturing practices and the various applications that were common at that time. Recently, the company has developed an innovative and unique ultra-violet coating particularly suitable for the manufacture of special optical fibres, mainly for high-temperature environmental atmosphere. Today, COIA is the sole manufacturer offering a coating based on UV-curable acrylate, operating up to 200°C. Fibres manufactured with the company’s Galaxy® HPHTC coatings were tested by customers world-wide under extreme conditions, such as high-temperature, steam and high-pressure durability with excellent results. On these tests, the quality of the coating, as well as the physical properties and optical properties of the tested fibres were approved with high-satisfaction.
The main typical applications for high-temperature fibres include medical and industrial lasers, in high-temperature environment, for high-efficiency fibre optic bundles, harsh environmental sensors, automotive applications, energy research, oil industry, as well as food industry and military field. The features and benefits of the high-performance high-temperature Galaxy® HPHTC coating includes:
- High-speed fibre drawing, up to 2,400m/min;
- Qualified for manufacturing special enhanced single and multimode optical fibres, as well as POF and speciality fibres;
- Qualified for use in wet-on-wet, as well as wet-on-dry drawing processes;
