Comprehensive Instrumentation from Beta LaserMike
Beta LaserMike offer a comprehensive range of instrumentation for fibre draw and fibre cabling. The product line has been further enhanced by the recent addition of the Holix diameter gauge and LaserSpeed non-contact length measuring systems. For diameter measurement, the Model 5007HPF Holix gauge is optimised for fibre draw-tower measurement with 2880 scans per axis per second. The FiberMike is also still available and this comprises up to three model 200FI diameter gauges integrated with a 282-14 controller. This system offers repeatability of +/-0.1 micron and accuracy of +/-0.25 micron. All Beta LaserMike gauges are capable of serial and Fieldbus connection to other control systems. The LaserSpeed 4000 non-contact length and speed measurement provides a highly accurate measurement for fibre or cable with no slippage and with an accuracy of better than 0.05 per cent. The LaserSpeed is permanently calibrated, has no moving parts to wear out, and can be a direct replacement for contact encoders. Combining two LaserSpeed 4000 gauges with a Length Differential Indicator provides a measurement of EFL in loose-tube fibre applications Beta LaserMike supports three distinct methods of Flaw detection. ”Scanning Flaw detection” is an integral option in the Holix diameter gauge. Each of the 2880 scans/axis/second is used to detect external flaws on the fibre or cable. The Model 360 flaw detector for bare fibre detects both internal and external flaws by illuminating the fibre with three separate laser beams. The light output level is monitored for refraction and reflection changes. MFG High bandwidth flaw detection gives equivalent to 15,000 scans per second - 4 times greater resolution of flaws than any scanning system. Specific solutions for Fibre Cabling include; Ultrasonic gauges for wall thickness and diameter measurement of loose tube lines, an oscillating stand for external dimensional measurement of Fibre Ribbon and the DataPro range of controllers for integrating the gauges and giving improved capability as well as materials saving in the tube extrusion and over-jacketing processes.
