Systems for tension measurement and tension control
FMS Force Measuring Systems AG will be displaying its range of wire and cable tension measurement and control systems. The company’s portfolio include tension sensors (load cells), measuring amplifier, tension controllers (closed loop), bus systems (Profibus, DeviceNet, CAN-open, etc.) and other direct tension control products. The company offers a large variety of tension sensors to measure anything from thin wires and fibres to massive ropes and from just a few grams to thousands of pounds/Newton. Electronic unit options are also offered from simple measurement and display tension amplifiers to closed loop PID tension controllers.
FMS tension sensors provide the highest overload protection (up to 20 times nominal load) in the industry to ensure that frequent calibration is not required and repeatability is assured. FMS sensors also offer a 5 to 110% of nominal load measuring range and an extremely high accuracy rating (0.5%), so that tight processing tolerances are maintained even when used with varied material sizes and tensions. The repeatability and accuracy of the company’s direct tension control products allows them to be used in pay-off, take-up, and intermediate drive control in many types of applications, such as drawing, stranding, bunching, extruding, and winding. FMS direct tension control products can also be utilised to increase the throughput and improve the processing speeds of many materials, such as copper wire, steel wire, formed wire, wire ropes, fibre optic cable, coaxial cable, and nylon/textiles.
