FEATURE NEWS:
Brush holders for wire annealing
Schunk Kohlenstofftechnik GmbH, Germany, provides the wire industry’s processing and production processes with high-quality products and materials for electric current transmission. Materials utilised include carbon, graphite and metals with good electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as a high-resistance to temperature. The company has developed sturdy brush holder designs and adapted carbon brush materials for safe current transmission during wire annealing. High-rates of current rise, no-load (idling) phases, light-load operation, aggressive gases and vapours, ambient temperatures and high-humidity are some of the extreme requirements involved in this respect.
Brush holders, brush rockers and carbon brushes or used on DC-drives for wire drawing machines and extruders ensure operation-free of interruptions. Schunk materials are specially developed to meet the extreme requirements encountered in the wire industry, namely positive commutation, low-abrasive wear and minimal service requirements. In addition to this, the company provides components for current transmission through carbon current rings on wire stranding machines, ensuring interference-free operation, even at high-peripheral speeds and under any load.
