Corona pre-treatment of cable

The corona pre-treatment of cable directly before the printing station eliminates absorbed layers and improves the wetting of the printing inks on the cable surface. The printing becomes more vibrant and the print adhesion is permanently improved. The corona pre-treatment with stations from Tigres Dr. Gerstenberg GmbH, Germany, does not influence optical, mechanical or electrical qualities of the insulation. Corona treatment can be used for any insulation material at high-production speeds. The company offers corona stations that meet any demands of the cable industry.

Tigres has recently introduced new small atmospheric plasma heads. PlasmaKorona-BLASTER MEF was developed as an atmospheric plasma source with very effective treating results. Inside the top of the metallic electrode head, a strong electrical discharge burns between an internal pen electrode and the housing. A strong air stream separates current filaments and the plasma, which comes out of the tip of the electrode. The plasma outside the electrode is free of any electrical potential and treats surfaces very intensely. No previous experience is required for the use of PlasmaKorona-BLASTER MEF. The head is mounted within a 5mm distance of the cable, 100mm before the printing head and is switched on when the cable runs.
