Multipass drawing line for high-carbon steel wire
Pittini Impianti Srl, Italy, provides a wide product range of machines specially designed for the steel wire, cable and rod production, such as the multipass drawing line, model LTM/DO, specifically suitable for high-carbon steel production . The line is designed to ease all the production and maintenance phases, featuring a horizontal axis design and a special inner block water circulation. These features are of great importance when considering the production of high-carbon steel wire.
The particular design of the machine allows the operator to have direct access to all the production and maintenance related elements, making intervention and checking much easier. Furthermore, the large windowed openings guarantee direct visual contact at every moment. The internal block pressurised cooling water circulation guarantees a turbulent flow that leads to a higher heat transfer and lower temperatures on the wire and the block surface, allowing higher production speeds while keeping the quality of the finished product. The range of available block diameters (280-400-560-610-700-900) gives total flexibility in terms of inlet (ranging from 18 to 5.5mm) and outlet (min. 0.4mm) wire sizes, as well as type of steel (0.1 - 0.8% C). All blocks are designed to work with the following options: fixed die box, motorised rotating die box, and cold rolling cassettes, thus allowing the user to adapt the machine according to his own specifications and requirements depending on the product to be manufactured.
In addition, the Italian company offers a compact cold rolling line, model LTPO, which features all the qualities of the company's vertical models (over 200 units sold over the globe). The new design of this model is more efficient and features more space saving while enhancing the operator safety. Furthermore, Pittini Impianti Srl offers the mesh production technology with its LRP line, designed to work with traditional cold rolled material, hi-yield water quenched products. This new machine has also been designed to produce high-ductility material, such as the new standard already adopted by many European countries, starting directly from hot-rolled ribbed wire rod.
