Platinum clad wires for applications up to 1,250°C
Anomet Products Inc., USA, has launched a new series of custom engineered platinum clad wires and ribbons that provides high-thermal and corrosion resistance for a fraction of the cost of solid platinum products. The new series features platinum cladding thicknesses from 2% or more and can be manufactured with core materials such as iron-nickel or molybdenum for applications up to 1,250°C; tantalum and niobium for bio-compatibility and corrosion resistance, as well as stainless steel and nickel for a combination of high-strength with corrosion resistance.
Functionally equivalent to solid platinum, Anomet platinum clad wire and ribbon is metallurgically bonded to a core material and can be supplied as wire with diameters ranging from 0.05 up to 10mm, and up to 25mm wide as ribbon. They have a smooth, consistent surface finish, resist corrosion at high-temperature, and can be custom engineered to match specific application requirements.
