FEATURE NEWS:
Portal and cantilever pay-offs and take-ups
PS Costruzioni Meccaniche is a well-known company worldwide, not only because it has been designing and manufacturing cable packaging and rewinding lines since 1960, but also for its outstanding production of pay-off stands and take-ups.
The company’s pay-off stands and take-ups can be portal or cantilever types. The portal type is normally used for heavy reels, with a diameter of from 1600 to 3000mm.
Reel lifting is achieved via motor gear-boxes, while the lifting and closure of the pintles is accomplished via a motor gearbox with an electrical and mechanical torque limiter. Each unit is also equipped with AC winding/unwinding motors, and portal pay-offs are usually housed on rails for a lateral movement from right to left. In this way, the lifting operations can be easily performed and the pay-off can also work as a wire guide if required.
The cantilever type is used for smaller reels, with a diameter of from 400 up to 1250mm. Even for this type, reel lifting can be easily accomplished by using hydraulic pistons, while the closure of the pintles can be either pneumatic or hydraulic.
The cantilever type is also equipped with AC winding/unwinding motors.
