Custom models for precision winding
AM Drives (AMD) specialises in custom systems for high quality winding. The system integrates inexpensive sensor technology with a Uhing ‘rolling ring’ traverse.
The AMD moving spool winder is, says the company, the best answer to obtain high quality, level wound spools. Instead of traversing the material onto the spool, the AMD moving spool winder traverses the spool to achieve a level spool.
From the pay-off to the take-up, the material being spooled remains perfectly on the centre line. The guide system pulleys do not move the material thus eliminating lateral forces that could distort the material.
The repeatability of the traverse is achieved from the Uhing rolling ring traverse, and the reversal at the flanges is controlled by the AMD program. The setting of the reversal is by a micro fine remote electronic means added to the standard Uhing traverse.
The moving spool winder is capable of winding almost any shape of material. It has been successful in winding wire from 0.10" to 0.250". It also winds flat ribbon type material and extruded material.
The standard winder includes a variable frequency drive with feedback to control tension, or constant line speed. The full spool weight capacity is 60lbs. The maximum OD flange is 14".
