FEATURE NEWS:
Traverse winder for research and development
Wayne Machine has introduced the new Yellow Jacket brand Bantam traverse winder for the laboratory research and development of insulated wire, cable and fibre optic sheathing.
These winders are easily integrated into existing extrusion systems that coat wire, cable or fibre optics with plastic, silicone or rubber. They are ideal for very fine wire coating as found in medical or precision applications, such as aerospace or micro-engineering.
They feature: a high level of flexibility when it comes to winding different products; variable torque settings for tension adjust-ment; electronic speed adjustment; a quick-change chuck; standard 2" by 6" cardboard cores; guide rollers; and a compact design.
Variable torque settings allow the line to maintain line tension at the optimum level via standard mechanical or optional electronic torque control. Maximum speed is adjustable for easy operation, compared with standard torque winders that run at
full speed when tension is released during start-up and line breaks.
Level winding is also easily achieved using the adjustable traverse. In addition, the winders include custom features and custom engineering to meet the needs of unique experimental laboratory and production situations.
Larger dual reel winders are available for use on larger extrusion systems. They feature ‘dead stop’ end control for perfect winding, along with electronically controlled pitch adjustment. Dancers are included as standard, but optional ultrasonic tension control can also be used. Pay-offs are also custom manufactured for use in wire, cable and fibre optic applications, and feature mechanical or electrical tension control.
Special electrical systems are available for integration with existing or new SCADA systems via analogue or digital communications, such as modbus, or other communications protocols.
