New machinery from OMA
For more than 50 years, OMA has specialised in the manufacturing of braiding machines for wire or yarn reinforcement as well as automatic and semi-automatic winding machines, pay-off and take-up units, yarn and wire spiralling machines, wrapping/unwrapping machines and complete lines for rigid or flexible mandrel large bore rubber hoses.
At this year’s wire 2006 OMA proudly presented some important innovations in the braiding world: the braiding machine Type 24/1-170 M/EC, with the new OMA bobbin Type 170 M (diameter 75 x 176mm), ideal for braiding a wide variety of wire and textile products, for round, tubular
or flat braid.
The Type 170 braiders are available with the same number of carriers as the Type 140 braiders: from 3 to 120.
This new braider size represents the best compromise between the existing braiders – Type 140 and Type 190 – in terms of speed and carrier capacity, allowing high production rates, a low number of bobbin changes and reduced machine downtime.
The second important development is the new fully automatic bobbin winder Type BTA 4/90 with its pay-off Creel Type CDF 4/BP, able to wind in parallel up to four bobbins at the same time with a maximum speed
of 6000rpm.
A high-precision meter counter allows
the spool filling level to be programmed and the machine executes a fully automated bobbin replacement cycle without any operator assistance, depositing the bobbins into removable containers.
The winding machine stops automatically when it reaches the programmed filling level. It will also stop automatically in the event of yarn breakage, if the spool supply is empty or if the safety doors are open.
Two OMA subsidiaries and a representative office help the Italian headquarters in assisting customers worldwide. OMA USA is responsible for the US and Canada; OMA UK manages the sales, spare parts’ distribution and customer assistance in Northern Europe and the recently opened Shanghai Representative Office is the point of reference for their Chinese customers.
