Spooling & winding equipment
DW12S is a new fully automatic solution within the Windak spooling and winding series. The whole series covers drum sizes from 165 up to 1600mm in flange diameter, in-line or off-line with a pay-off.
The DW12S loads empty reels, winds and cuts the cable, stretch-wraps the reel and discharges the finished drum. The machine can be combined with other stations such as a spark and lump neck down tester, labelling, palletiser and stretch-wrapper, as well as conveyers to the storage area. Windak says: “Add to this the highest known production speed, a superior winding quality and good safety with the winding area enclosed.” DW12S is developed for power cable and wire between approximately Ø8mm and Ø28mm. The drum diameters are Ø400–1600mm; drum widths 350–1000mm and the maximum drum weight 1500kg.
Windak also has a new drumwinder specially designed for communi-cation cable up to Category 7. The DW32S also has the honour of being the largest fully automatic solution within Windak’s spooling and winding series.
As with the DW12S above, this drumwinder loads empty reels, winds and cuts the cable, stretch-wraps the reel and discharges the finished drum and can be combined with other stations.
The DW32S is developed for most types of sensitive communication cable where a spool gives a compact and protected packing. Windak says: “Depending on the application and cable type then the expected continuous production speed can average between 200–300 metres per minute. In some cases it is even possible to reach higher speeds providing the sensitivity of the cable allows it.”
The drum diameters are Ø300–800mm, drum widths 250–600mm and the maximum drum weight 350kg. For both drumwinders the operator interface is PC-based software where parameters for different cable types can be stored in the recipe system. Alarms messages are shown on the screen and the machine movements can also operate manually to facilitate servicing.
The PC can be linked to the production plants ordering system which means all produced reels are given a correct and individual order for handling in storage of direct delivery. The PC system also allows remote support from Windak with features such as PC Anywhere, SKYPE and web camera.
