Scapa Polymerics, one of Europe’s leading companies in the low smoke, halogen free, fire retardant cable compound market, has always prided itself on anticipating the needs of the cable market.
“With cable manufacturers striving for maximum productivity and efficiency, the speed of processing for an LSFOH compound is ever more vital,” says Scapa. “That is why our innovative new range – Megolon+ – is anticipated to generate huge interest for cable producers worldwide. These compounds demonstrate a major technological breakthrough enabling high-speed extrusion.”
The first product in the new range is the S800. Scapa observes: “With the ability to run at high speeds even on conventional PVC screws, Megolon+ S800 has the capability to increase line speeds by over 60%. Additionally S800 requires significantly lower screw torque, even at very high speeds, than other benchmark Megolon products – leading to a potential saving of up to 30% on direct energy costs.” In addition to the increased line speeds that this compound can run at, the company says that successful trials at major cable manufacturers of UTP cables have demonstrated improved handling and processability, reduced die drool and improved line stability.
