Get up to the mark with GFP from M&S;
Engineered to high standards, the Medek & Schörner GFP series has a solution for every optical fibre coating application – from dedicated compact single-line systems (operating at speeds up to 3000m/min) up to complete 6-fibre coating systems.
The GFP-UV series is specifically designed to coat optical fibres with UV curable inks at speeds up to 3000m/min. The colouring system comprises a fibre pay-off, colouring and curing units, and a capstan plus take-up unit. Single-line and parallel arrangements with up to six independent fibre lines are available.
Each model is equipped with Medek & Schörner's M550 high performance UV irradiators with permanent irradiation control and automatic curing adjustment. This optimizes curing rates, compensates for bulb ageing and quartz tube deterioration and additionally prevents thermal overload conditions for the fibre. Fibre tension sensors ensure optimal fibre travelling conditions with minimum mechanical stress and minimum fibre oscillation.
An automated reel flange detecting system and a winding supervision system offer a smooth and flawless fibre take-up with minimum operator attendance. A 'screen proof test' unit can easily be incorporated as a separate modular component in existing colouring equipment. An optional RSJ add-on ring marking system allows the fibre to be marked with colour-code rings at speeds up to 800 m/min. A tight buffering extension can easily be installed enabling process speeds up to 400 m/min.
Medek & Schörner says it also offers top quality equipment for high speed fibre ribbon processing of up to 24 primary coated and coloured optical fibres at maximum operational speeds of up to 1000m/min and with excellent ribbon planarity. The horizontal design offers simple and comfortable equipment handling.
Medek & Schörner's FMS series high performance hot foil metre/footage markers print length marks in metres or feet sequences along with text, company logo, and/or any other user-definable codes in a variety of colours on the jacket of optical fibre cables. Advanced AC servo drive systems are provided for extremely accurate length marking at speeds up to and above 150m/min.
