One-stop extrusion shop at Wayne
Wayne Machine & Die Company manufactures laboratory and small scale production extrusion systems for wire and cable insulation and fibre optic sheathing.
Plastic, silicone and rubber extruders are available in all sizes. The lines include pay-off, extruder(s), crosshead die, water troughs, puller/capstan and winder. The lines are available with master reference drives and/or full laser control systems with SPC capabilities. All of the line components are also available as individual components.
Custom-built heavy-duty extruders are manufactured for 24-hour production applications in sizes from 3/8" for ultra fine wire up to 6" for high output production cable applications. Floor model extruders are supplied with overhang 'L' panels for easy access to the control panel instruments.
Co-extruders range from 3/8" to 2½" in vertical and satellite configurations and are used for both multi-layer insulation and for striping applications. Table top extruders from 3/8” up to 1¼” are used for laboratory set-ups.
A complete line of crosshead dies is available for plastics, silicone and rubber. The lines process all common wire insulation thermoplastics such as PVC, PE, and nylon.
High temperature extruders configured for FEP, ETFE, ETCFE, PFA and other fluoropolymers are custom-built using nickel-based screws, bi-metallic corrosion-resistant barrels, and double reduction helical gearboxes with hardened ground gears. The Silicone and Rubber extruders feature a roll feeder with a separate drive that is electronically interlinked to the screw drive and follows the screw drive to ensure accurate feeding of silicone and rubber across the entire speed range.
Advanced multi-layer co-extrusion insulation lines use two or more extruders. Water troughs are available in custom lengths. Pullers are supplied up to a width of 4" and a traction length of 24".
Single and dual turret winders feature electronic pitch adjustment and grease-free traverse mechanism. Individual components can be custom-built and interfaced to existing equipment.
