Redex’s profiling head technology

Redex is adding re-designed profiling heads to its standard range, in order to make its rolling mills more flexible. The new T4i profiling head has several advantages in comparison with the usual ‘turk’s head’ design. This design offers extra high stand stiffness, two power-driven horizontal axis rolls, and a motorized upper roll for offering a closed loop control.

Because of the way the sub-assemblies have been designed, the profiling head operates at a low vibration level and increases the accuracy of the wire shape.

Based on a modular design, Redex’s T4i profiling head allows the main components to be quickly changed. The whole head is delivered as a self-contained assembly and then can be easily mounted in a standard two high mill stand.

The range covers low- and high-carbon as well as stainless steel. With only four roll diameter sizes – 125, 190, 260 and 360mm2 the T4i also covers material strength up to 1900 Mpa and wire sections from 2 to 250mm2. The first T4i re-design was a joint project between Redex and Tréfileurope, a subsidiary of Mittal steel.
