Pourtier stranding with backtwist

The planetary strander model PFS 630 developed by Pourtier for the production of OPGW cable is specially designed for the stranding with backtwist of aluminium alloy, ACS (aluminium clad steel) and fibre in steel tubes.

The company lists the main technical features as: • accurate tension control (with reels driven by DC motor and a thyristor unit allowing constant tension on the various elements and, most importantly, identical tension for all elements despite their different nature) • reduced number of slip rings (thanks to integrated electronics inside the machine) which is a big advantage for maintenance • electro-mechanical loading table • variable backtwist (90 to 110%) • special performing heads for OPGW cable composed of different wire materials.

This machine can also be used for high tensile steel wire armouring where the wire requires full backtwist.
