Tailor-made insulation and sheathing
lines for power cables are available from Supermac which says it has sold more than 400 lines in the last 30 years. “Extrusion technology has always been our core competence,” says a company statement. “Supermac and its developments in this field normally set the standards for other companies to achieve.” The pay-off can either be driven or non-driven and the traversing system of the take-up ensures that the cable is evenly wound. The dancer maintains the appropriate tension while the extruder can handle the sheathing of a wide variety of cable. The screw and barrel are designed so that they are easy to clean and help save time and reduce waste during start-up. Supermac adds: “Our crosshead adds to the precision of the sheathing line as each crosshead and its melt distributor is designed and dedicated to the particular needs of the customer.”
The cooling trough gives the cable the required residual time in water to cool down and the sturdy caterpillar can be used both as an entry caterpillar and a metering caterpillar. Supermac continues: “Since the line is fully synchronized, the operator has easy control of the line from a modular control panel. In our experience, customers need not only the machinery but also the technological solution behind it, so we deliver both aspects and exceed our clients’ expectations.”
