| Founded in 1970, the Indian company Sampat Heavy Engineering Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of machines and auxiliaries that are specially designed for copper, aluminium and alumium alloy wires. The company has recently launched a continuous slip wire drawing machine that features 450mm capstans made of tungsten carbide coated steel. High-efficient helical gears with forced lubrication system power the capstans. The capstan rings can be detached and are made of high-carbon steel, ceramic and specially coated alloy steel to ensure high-wear resistance and longer life. Designed for aluminium rods sizing from 8 to 9mm max. and copper rods sizing from 1.5 to 4.5mm (with wire reduction varying from 26.1 to 35%), the machine also comprises die holders that feature an advanced adjustment for perfect die, wire and capstan alignment. The machine is designed to have constant slip control on all drafts and the main drive of the machine is synchronised with the spooling system or vertical coiling drive.
In addition, Sampat Heavy Engineering offers an innovative modern aluminium rod rolling line, model SH-2001, that features a production capacity of 3 to 4 tonnes per hour of aluminium rods (diameters ranging from 7.6 up to 9.5mm).
The rolling line, which features power and fuel savings, consists of a suitable melting furnace with burners fitted along with holding furnaces. Also included are 1,500mm casting wheels, which provide a speed of 11m/min and are equipped with cooling water circulation. The mill is supplied with 15-stand rolling mill with variable DC drive motor of 225kW. To compensate the generated heat during the process, the line is equipped with an in-built oil circulation system designed for the lubrication of the bearing of the gear train. Twin coilers are available with the rolling line for the production of coils weighing from 2,000kg to 2,500kg. These coils are produced compact, with layer to layer winding. All electrical controls are included in the scope of the supply.
