Optimised systems for fibre and RF cables
Rosendahl Maschinen GmbH, Austria, is a global supplier offering a comprehensive range of high-end cable manufacturing systems that are suitable for telecom, LAN, Minicoax, CATV, RF and microwave, optical fibre, automotive and power cables. Focusing on continuous research and development, the company has recently introduced a welding and corrugating line suitable for RF cables, guaranteeing product quality and return loss at highest level. The RF line features annular and helical cable designs, a 8,000rpm corrugator, a caterpillar BA1250-RF for anti-speed variations, as well as optimised VSWR and a new on-line contour measurement device for monitoring the corrugating quality during the production. The model BA1250-RF has been designed for vibration-critical production processes. It features a moveable roller carrier that exactly centres the product to the input of the crosshead or the corrugation head. Rollers on short segments handle diameter variations of the product at start-up without influencing the speed. In addition, the BA1250-RF features grooved belts, designed for easy and quick change to adapt different product dimensions. A two-motor solution, combined with an intelligent drive system, allows constant speed and traction control resulting in excellent SRL values (better than 35dB) and providing no peaks over the desired 30MHz to 3GHz frequency range.

For the fibre optic industry, the company offers its high-speed multi-fibre pay-off system MFA500 that permits to use the same pay-off for single fibres and simplex-cables. The system is available in both shaft and pintle designs and is suitable for fibre, ribbon, tight-buffered and simplex cables. Designed for reel diameters of up to 500mm, the system can also be used for both secondary coating and jacketing of fibre LAN products. Furthermore, Rosendahl offers its ChiB system that is designed for automatic launching of one or more fibres in buffering lines. The clamping and cutting device in combination with ChiB and fibre pay-off units, MFA500 or MFA300, ensure a continuous process. ChiB fibre launcher is available for simplex, loose-tube and tight-coating production lines.
