| Gentle winding of the material between the coil flanges is particularly vital in the winding of high-quality fibre optic and data cables. Damage and subsequent transmission faults can thus be avoided. To meet this requirement, the German company Joachim Uhing KG GmbH & Co provides the fibre industry with a series of rolling ring traversing systems that can be continuously adapted to the coil width and the respective material diameter.
These rolling ring traversing systems are also directly driven by the winding shaft via a belt drive. This makes a separate drive motor and a controller synchronising coil and traversing speed unnecessary. The purely mechanically rolling ring traversing system converts the traversing shafts constant direction of rotation into a traversing motion at the stroke end. Using a scale, the feed per coil rotation can be easily adapted to the material diameter. A release lever allows the traversing system to be uncoupled and moved to the start position on the shaft when winding is about to begin. Coil changing can be sped up with the companys Easylock fast-action clamping system that does not require any tools.
