Efficient cold welding machine for aluminium and copper wires
Cold welding is a method for joining non-ferrous metals and their alloys without heat or fillers. The resulting weld is stronger than the parent material and has the same electrical characteristics. The process of cold welding of non-ferrous metals has been established for very many years. BWE Ltd, UK, has been producing and developing equipment for application of the process for more than 30 years and has supplied in excess of 10,000 machines during that time. The machines and the appropriate dies have to be well made to ensure that the rods/wires to be welded do not slip in the dies. Pressing the rods together ejects contaminated material from the weld zone prior to welding - which eliminates the need for any special preparation of the material before welding. The process is simple, dependable and complete in a few seconds.

BWE manufactures a wide range of machines capable of welding from 0.08mm wire to 20mm rod in aluminium and 13mm copper rods. The smaller wire sizes can be welded with hand operated machines while the larger machines are either compressed air or electrically driven. The most recent addition to the companys range is the model BWE CW5E. This machine has a weld range of 2.0mm to 10mm aluminium wires (6.5mm for copper) and is a cost-effective piece of equipment in this size range. It can be easily moved: the operating head is on a pivot to facilitate operation and the dies can be prepared to accept rectangular strip as well as round sections.
