| Zumbach Electronic AG, Switzerland, has recently introduced a new laser diameter measuring head, model ODAC� 14XY-WD, which has been designed especially for wire drawing or similar applications. An integrated Central Processing Unit (CPU) enables communication with a host computer or the special USYS 8000 MULTILINE processor. The integrated processor allows the raw measuring data to be filtered and provides SPC reporting capability of a selection of parameters and many further functions.
Thanks to the ultra-compact size and IP 65 protection class, the ODAC� 14XY-WD can be easily integrated into the wire drawing machine or retrofitted. Typical mounting configurations include :
- Compact drawing/spooling machines: the ODAC� head is typically mounted onto the machine block, between the drawing and spooling area, if possible between 2 guiding rollers;
- Separate drawing and spooling machines: the ODAC� head can be mounted on a support and measure the wire diameter between the 2 machine blocks.
