| Providing the industry with automatic packaging lines for electric and telecom cables, the Italian company EFAF (Engineering Future Automazione Flessibile) Srl has recently delivered an automatic packaging line for rigid copper ropes with variable cross sections ranging from 10 up to 95mm2. The copper ropes are packaged in coils, in length of up to 250m and maximum weight of 100kg. The rope coils are then strapped and introduced in the oven for thermoshrinking film, labelled and palletised. At the end of the coiling cycle, the rope is wound with adhesive tape for the length involved in the cutting zone.
An advanced electronic operation system allows to have over 200 production recipes available in which all parameters are set-up, such as line speed, height between the caps of the coiling head, spindle pitch, labelling, palletising configuration, etc. According to the required copper rope packaging, the operator has only to select the concerned recipe. In addition, the material used for the construction of this automatic coiling line has been studied by EFAF�s engineers in order to increase the wear resistance.
