| Soft wire such as copper, aluminium and other fragile wire coils, are especially vulnerable to damage during take-up and let-off processes. With traditional wire spools and reels, wire damage is simply part of the deal, which means increased costs associated with wire rejects.
To eliminate wire damage and associated costs, the American company Acrometal has released Acropak demountable take-up and let-off reels with coated flanges. To make the flanges less damaging to soft wire, Acrometal has developed a flange protectant that coats the inside of the flanges with a high-durability polymer. This new option is now available for all Acropak demountable reels, including the Acropak inflatable bladder core let-off reel.
