Swiss company AESA specialises in the development and manufacture of automatic measuring systems for the cable industry. The available systems cover the needs of the standard telephone cable business, the xDSL cable business as well as the LAN cable business.
To meet current trends in the cable industry’s technical requirements, AESA has recently added new test parameters to its software. Typically, Alien NEXT, Alien FEXT, Alien ELFEXT and the corresponding PowerSums can be tested automatically for up to 28-pair cables and up to 1 GHz for the most advanced cable generations. AESA has also developed a revolutionary connecting frame design for applications requiring maximum accuracy at very high frequencies. This new 3-D design enables the preparation of a 4-pair cable by removing the cable jacket on an absolute minimum distance.
At wire 2006, AESA will be exhibiting a new way to connect a cable to a test system, together with different solutions related to its range of resistance bridges that cover all needs from 0.02mm² up to 1800mm². The company will also be demonstrating a new software package that allows a reduction in measuring time by anticipating the effective resistance value without having to wait for the sample to stabilise in temperature.
