Italian wire-drawing company Travar has designed an innovative new multiwire drawing technology for aluminium and aluminium alloys possessing features such as: up to eight wires drawn simultaneously; high speed and productivity; possibility of drawing superfine wires with diameters from 0.14mm to 0.8mm; accurate thermal treatments adapted to customers’ needs; a wide choice of reels (DIN 630, DIN 800, DIN 250 and so on).
With this technology Travar is able to offer a wide range of aluminium alloys for mechanical and electrical applications.
Among the range, the 1310 AlFeMg (aluminium alloy for flexible cables), the 6101 AlMgSi (aluminium alloy for screening and shielding of cables) and the 1370 Al (aluminium for medium-sized wires) are particularly suitable for electrical applications.
These aluminium alloys are now widely used in cables for aircrafts, in the automotive industry and for several types of braids.
Their use is also increasing in applications such as shielding and screening, cables for railways, high frequency cables and equipment for power distribution.
